ABSTRACT

The present study included two groups of patients: [1] patients ascertained to study the families tendency to develop cancer. They were 1211 probands with cancer and their families. They were taken up from the University Hospital at Mansoura and the National Cancer Institute at Cairo. [2] The second group comprised all the individuals examined in the Genetics Unit at Mansoura University with precancerous chromosome syndromes and mutant genes which transcribe neoplasia. The following have been carried out: [1] History and clinical examination of the patients and their relatives, [2] Laboratory investigations for diagnosis, [3] genetic investigations including chromosomal and metabolic studies, [4] Pedigree construction, [5] Segregation and consanguinity analysis [6] total anticipated population patient load. The results could be summarized as follows: 1] The pooled data shows that the observed frequency of sibs is consistent with multifactorial and inconsistent with dominant or recessive, 2] Average inbreeding coefficient of 0.01408, 3] A congenetic load of 15928
